Heating of an inlet collector

Models with 4-tsil. Engines and system Mono-Motronic

From the block of preparation of a gas mixture of system Mono-Motronic air and fuel mix through an inlet collector gets to cylinders.

If the inlet collector cold the considerable part of a mix is condensed on internal walls of a collector and gets to combustion chambers any more absolutely in the form of steams. So losses and, thereby, the raised expense of fuel are formed. It can be helped misfortune double heating of an inlet collector.

  • On the cold engine action is entered by electric heating of an inlet collector. It consists from электрически warmed up "hedgehog" who is screwed in in an inlet collector below the block of preparation of a gas mixture. At our "hedgehog" with a natural small animal the general only needles. In Audi 80 they serve not so much to passive self-defence, how many increase in a surface of a heating element. Such "echinoid" heating operates only approximately to temperature of a cooling liquid 65C. Then the current is disconnected.
  • The thermoswitch (on electric schemes the gauge of temperature of a cooling liquid is designated as – G62) includes "hedgehog" not directly. G62, more likely, supplies the block of management Mono-Motronic with the information on temperature, and this last through the relay in the additional block of the relay under the instrument panel makes the order to submit a food to "hedgehog".
  • At more heats heating of an inlet collector is incurred by a cooling liquid. For this purpose through the special channel in an inlet collector the additional quantity from the general stream of a cooling liquid goes.

Check of heating of an inlet collector

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check of "hedgehog": on the cold engine to disconnect a wire conducting to "hedgehog" under an inlet collector, on plug connection (it is established sideways on the block of preparation of a gas mixture).
  2. On a cable to "hedgehog" and to "weight" to connect an ohmmeter: if it shows 0,25 – 0,50 Ohm, that, means, "hedgehog" is perfectly in order.
  3. Who does not have ohmmeter, that should remove the block of preparation of a gas mixture at the cold engine, include ignition and check up a wet finger, whether needles of "hedgehog" heat up.
  4. If "hedgehog" is not heated, despite true indicators of resistance the reason can be in the defective relay.

The case of the filter of the engine capacity of 66 kw with system of injection Mono-Motronic:

1 – receipt of warm air;
2 – receipt of cold air;
